Roteiros de séries, programas de variedades e animações foram selecionados pela entidade como forma de promover os melhores trabalhos na TV neste ano.

Na seleção de séries dramáticas, as veteranas The Americans, Better Call Saul, The Crown e The Handmaid's Tale continuam na briga, desta vez ao lado da novata Succession. Entre as comédias, Barry entra na disputa com Atlanta, GLOW, The Good Place e The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
O Sindicato de Roteiristas premia não apenas as melhores séries do ano, como também os melhores roteiros em episódios individuais, além de minisséries e programas de variedades.
